Just casually ask the urologist if it could be caused by alcohol. I think sometimes we think we are going to be scolded if we admit to drinking too much but medical professionals are used to this.

Allyn - I have harmless cysts on my kidneys (unrelated to booze) that give high protein levels in urine as well... no biggie... but please be upfront with the doctor.. cause if something happens and you need some prescription drugs.. they could wind up killing you given the narcs and booze withdrawal etc
