Resources for your "person"?

Hi,

I have two very close people in my life (husband and best friend) who are aware of my struggles with alcoholism. They both are interested in learning more about what I have been going through and I am wondering if there is anyone out there who can suggest some resources (reading or otherwise) for them?

My husband has tried Al-Anon 4-5 different times. He doesn't love it but I am not sure he is ready to give up on it either. My best friend and I have a very full social life together, most of which does not involved drinking. She is worried about drinking in front of me, etc. She is a nurse and is worried about doing the wrong thing that could cause me to relapse.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

PG

If she doesn't know what your username is here ( or you don'd mind if she sees your posts ) , how about giving her the link to SR? I've shown my wife several posts on here to help her understand things and it's been helpful I think.

The stories in the Big Book would be good too.

Great question, and thanks for the answers. I read Under the Influence, and read parts to my husband so he could understand more.

Tell 'em to read the bible of recovery-Big Book. The Doctor's opinion will explain to them why you yourself will NEVER be able to drink socially again coz you're allergic to alc.
The whole bk is written in simple understandable language
Best wishes

Thanks everyone. I passed along the You Tube links to my husband. I watched those Kevin McCauley videos in my IOP but had no idea they were on You Tube. Thanks for sharing. PG
