also, you may or may not be an alcoholic, but before my drinking really kicked in, and when I worked a 9-5 job, I was able to stick to weekend only drinking. however years later, my drinking progressed and my work schedule made it possible for me to drink more and more.....I have found the progressive part to be true. it never gets better, only worse.
I can't moderate. I used to do just weekend benders, but then I would have whiskey in the morning to get rid of the hangover, then catch a buzz, and then start the whole thing over again. I can't say what works for others, but for me I'm all-in drunk or all-in sober. Could never get to be a friend of Mr. Inbetween.

You can drink on weekends and still have a problem with alcohol... before I really stopped, I was drinking only on week-ends. But I was drinking like 20 beers or more and unable to stop. Drinking 2 or 3 beers just wouldn't do it for me and I always promised myself that I wouldn't overdo it. Except I did, almost every time.
I think that one of the definitions of alcoholism is that we cannot control our dinking. So even if you drink on week ends only, will you be able to control the quantity ingested?
