Slipped up on day 3!
Hi, I've been sober now for 3 days after 5-6 months of drinking sometimes more than 2 bottles of wine a day. I decided to stop recently and experienced bad withdrawal symptoms so am now on diazapram. I've managed to keep of the drink for 3 days until right now, when I nipped downstairs and took a swig of my father's whisky! :-/ The craving was just too much and I knew the booze was in the house.
I want to know how much this will set me back?
Thanks in advance
Char

It will only set you back if you allow it too. Remember the pain you experienced with withdrawals. You don't have to go back there.
Onwards and upwards. Don't allow this to derail you. No judgment here. Just wishing you well as you start again.

Hi CharlieChar - welcome
I'm not sure any of us are qualified to medically answer the question of how much will it set you back...a swig is a swig....for most people it probably will have little or no effect in the short or long term, but for someone like me who drank almost to the bitter end, things might be different.
Mentally tho - you'll probably find cravings will kick in again full force.
Do you have any support besides SR?

40 years to get 5
that's pretty common
and
just what we do sometimes when we deceive ourselves
all you can do is pick a new clean date
and
try again
it took me over 40 years to get 5 straight years sober
I'm not proud of that fact
but
I do thank God that I'm sober today
