Hello. I think that the withdrawing period is different for everyone. For me, I had a few nights of disrupted sleep and one night in particular, i was sweating. Aside form that I felt alright. No shaking, or DT''s.I was emotionally hungover for a few weeks. It took me awhile to come back around to myself. I needed those few weeks though. It helped me to realize what i needed to actually do.
So, it really depends. I can understand feeling scared of withdrawing. Doctors are available. We are here. There is no time like the present to reclaim your body and life.

Thank you so much for that. I am a teacher so I'm nervous. I have to be on top of everything and stay calm during stressful school days. Can't believe I let it get this bad. I really appreciate you replying.

Hi Dahlia,
Everyone is different and I think it depends on how much you drink. I would drink about a bottle and a half a wine a few times per week. When I try to quit my withdrawal symptoms are sweating for a few nights followed by nights of wonderful, deep sleep. I am able to sleep like I haven't in years and that part has been wonderful. Best of luck to you. PG

I assume you are not drinking during the work day. If you are not experiencing physical withdrawals while at work, you are probably quite safe to do this on your own.
That said, your best bet is to pay your doctor a visit and be honest about your drinking and your desire to quit. He/she will know whether your detox should be medically supervised.
As far as rehab/treatment is concerned, check with your health insurance provider. Treatment can happen on an outpatient basis that doesn't interfere with your work schedule. My treatment program was around $10,000, but I only paid about $400 in out-of-pocket co-pays while my insurance picked up the rest.
You can do this!

i drank every night also. for me the withdrawals were more mental than physical. but going to the doctor is a good idea to help you out.
it took me about a week to restore my sleep, appetite and my engery to return. but come here Dahlia when you need support and you will find it
