26 Days Sober
This is my first post here, not sure what to say, I found this sight by accident, I just clicked how to stay sober and you poped up.
I started reading and I was suprised at how alot of things everyone said related to me. I don't know what person said what but I was so encoraged by everything I have read I just want to say Thank you everyone.
One thing that has stuck out in my mind and is helping me daily is the quote "I am not going to drink today " such simple words but it takes the pressure off of tomorrow. I say this to myself every morning when I get up,and so far it is working.

Hi and welcome to a life, one day at a time, of far more happiness and serenity than you perhaps experienced for a long period. Years ago it was suggested that I attend AA and that’s when my journey started. It began when people said “KEEP COMING” associate with sober people, don’t drink/use even if you asz falls off, MEETINGS, MEETINGS, MEETINGS, and more MEETINGS, it works IF WE WORK IT.

Thanks everyone for all the encoraging words. I don't want to join AA at this time, but I am seeing a therpist, She is the one that encoraged me to join this website instead of just looking at it. It seems like I did not even realize I had a drinking problem until I decided to stop doing it.
Monday is my birthday and in the last 40 years I have only had one sober birthday, and that one was 20 years ago,and hopefully Monday morning I will get up and say" I am not going to drink today"

Yes we did talk about it. I am taking Campral, and see my therapist once a week. I am just not quite ready for anything more right now. Just joining this site is a very big step for me.

You'll find there's a lot of support here, and you can learn how to get support at your local meetings if you need them later.

Thank you everyone you make me feel very welcome here.
