Welcome to SR, good to have you here x

Sounds like a good decision to quit.

I did lots of reading and posting when I arrived at SR, good luck on your journey

I'm the same mate, was getting bad toward the end, one Saturday I was just faffing in the shed, cracked a beer at midday and steadily, not quickly, drank until 10 pm, I'm not proud of it and I was shocked the next morning to find I had consumed 20 beers, I should have been a lot more hungover, I was disgusted with myself. That was two weeks ago, I had my last beer this last Monday afternoon, three days gone, night sweats the lot, well get through it mate, hang in there.

Welcome Claude. Beer was my best friend for many years too. It was nothing for me to put down a 12-18 pack on a saturday. SR has a lot of support, you might want to check out local resources too like AA/Smart/AVRT if you need some personal interaction. Getting checked out by your doc is recommended as well, they can make sure nothing is totally out of whack and help you form a plan to quit.

The most important thing you can do ( now that you've decided to quit -which is THE most important! ) is make a plan. Some use AA, some use SR, it doesn't really matter - just what works best for you. When those cravings start, and they will, you need to have tools to keep you from starting back up.

Best of luck, read lots here and ask lots of questions.

Yes...the beer ...is my problem...

It's just too D**M conveinient! You can buy it anywhere...You dont have to "mix it...just pop the top and your there... I can drive across town and pass 35 "Liquor Stores" in the form of convience (mini-markets) stores...Its just too easy to get...and every D**N restaurant sells it !!!...

I hate it !!!

Beer was my drink of choice for nearly 30 years. For the last 10 years I drank 12-18 EVERY day with at least twice as much on the weekends. I figured I couldn't have THAT much of a problem, it's just beer, right?!? It was enough to put me in the ER with severe panic attacks. Glad I stopped when I did.
