Salutations..
A brief snapshot of me:
On-again, off-again relationship with drink for the majority of my adult life. Last 5 years have been especially challenging, with the occasional two glasses of wine morphing into periodic liquor (more efficient) binges in the late evening. Although I have contended with anxiety and depression and have a serious family history of alcoholism I realize that I have a personal responsibility to manage the desire to self medicate and deal with mid life crisis in a manner that doesn't endanger relationships within the realms of family and work. As far as treatment goes, I've been proactive for the most part--asking my primary care MD for a script of Disulfram to break the cycle, discussing a game plan with a therapist and attending Celebrate Recovery meetings. The latter hasn't been as effective as I'd like; I'm not an incredibly social nor transparent individual (at least in person). So I continue to yearn for the euphoria that I've made into a bridge of sorts to the days of my youth. Alas, here I am.
Glad I found you.

Welcome to SR!!!
If this means, "I need to stop drinking before I eff up my family and my job'" then you might want to visit the secular recovery section. We like to use big words there, too.
Good Luck on your Journey!
