It's Friday I am a little worried
This is my 7th day also and a hellacious day (and week) at work.) It was so tempting to pick up a pint on the way home so I did. I picked up a pit of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. And I am not even much of a sweet eater. Guess what? It cost less and had less calories than the pint of vodka I was tempted by. I could eat a bit and put the rest away in the freezer which never happened with the vodka. The only thing I have to dread waking up is to step on the scale. A small sacrifice to pay in order to keep sober.
Here's to Friday night in the real world.

BTW: I have had several people ask about my screen name and the avatar. This is Whiskers who was a cat that adopted us when we lived on Guam. She was a wonderful friend and escorted my kids to the bus stop each morning. About 15 minutes before the bus was to come home in the afternoon, she cried at the door and trotted off to the bus stop and was waiting to walk them home again. We had her 18 years before she passed away. I thought her faithfulness was a great example to me as I attempt to be a better husband and dad.
Random suggestion for anyone out there who is bored tonight or tomorrow night: Start watching Homeland if you haven't already! What a great show, really keeps you captivated. I finished both seasons in a week!
We drank for happiness and became unhappy.
We drank for joy and became miserable.
We drank for sociability and became argumentative.
We drank for sophistication and became obnoxious.
We drank for friendship and made enemies.
We drank for sleep and awakened without rest.
We drank medicinally and acquired health problems.
We drank for relaxation and got the shakes.
We drank for bravery and became afraid.
We drank for confidence and became doubtful.
We drank to make our conversation easier and we slurred our speech.
We drank to feel heavenly and ended up feeling like hell.
We drank to forget and were forever haunted.
We drank for freedom and became slaves.
We drank to erase problems and saw them multiply.
We drank to cope with life and invited death.

BTW - this thread was one of the main things that helped prevent me from drinking last night.
That, looking at some entries in my journal about the hangover days I've had, and reading "Passages Through Recovery: An Action Plan for Preventing Relapse" by Terence Gorski
Thanks to all.

I get the sense in my house people are gearing up for a session...I won't drink, but I might get tempted. Hmmm ill keep you updated. The worst thing I can do is to go home alone I think. I'll just have to brave it and stick it out. How receptive, I am since I started writing the vodka is on the table. I'd usually be pouring the shots by now. Oh well, wish me luck. XD
