My first dozen or so times I went I was petrified. Ki just said hi this is ken. Nothing more. I think people were understanding.
Consider that AA is there to help you see your drinking and how it has affected your life. You may have a different definition of yourself after some time in the program.
Me personally... I am an alcoholic and drug addict. I find no shame in getting my life back on track.
