The 4-day, pay-what you-can plan sounds good. As I said, most of what you get from that will be your interaction with other alcoholics and addicts. My wife did a month rehab, very nice place, but she says the same thing (except she was stuck with those loonies for a month).

Ok, finally got some more info and the local town has a second meeting at 8 pm. Guess I better wash my butt and brush my tooth and pick up an extra pack of smokes and get up there..... No time like the now.

Quick! What can I expect???? Quick!

Wish I could help but I don't do AA. From what I've read you can expect other people struggling with the same addiction you are. Your privacy will be protected and respected. You can just listen if that's what makes you comfortable at first. I think there are different kinds of meetings so you may have to find out what the one you're going to is. Good job for taking the first step!

lol on brushing your tooth

Hey there, I pm'd you with the info, but in case you didn't see it (or in case others are interested) here is the very best link I've ever found about What to Expect at Your First AA Meeting.

Well, the meeting started at 7 so I was 45 minutes late,Crap(the website said 8) They were nice about it. Only about 15 people. They just asked my name, nothing else. Most of them invited me back tomorrow, so I will probably go and maybe share a little background with them. I will get more out of a full meeting.
