I have quit several times in the past, for a month, several months, a couple years, and as long as four years, but had never felt totally comfortable. I always went back to it, eventually.

That is great! I am 47 and I quit 5 months ago. Yes, you can change and you are never too old to make yourself better.

I was 49 when I finally quit after 30+ years if drinking.

And I gotta say, I so wish I would have done it 25 years earlier. Life has never been better.

Right now, it does seem hopeless. I can't remember how I even quit for four years.

Don't worry about it. You don't have to know *today* everything in answer for past or future struggles, failures, and successes. There is enough in a day to keep us busy, lol.

It dosen't have to be hopeless. It's really about personal perspectives. Our past failures can be kicked to the curb. We can do what must be done and stay sober.

I'm 55 now, and been sober a number of years.

all you have to worry about right now is today Paul - 'I will not drink today, no matter what'...then you can back up and do it again tomorrow

you can do this

Hi Paul,

Welcome!

I am 50. I have been sober for over ten months. If we don't quit now, the next thing we know, ten years will have gone by and we will be saying the same things. Only we will be in our 60s.

I did it by one minute at a time at first. Do not look into the futures for right now you have the tools and inner strength to not drink today. When the future comes you will have evolved with it and you will have the tools and strength you need to maintain at that time.

Don't nag the future, man. It'll get to it when it's time.

Keep posting. Congratulations!
