Going to 3rd Meeting today - Feel Better
I will be going to my 3rd meeting today and I must say I am feeling so much better about it. I feel like I have lifted a huge weight off of my shoulders because I have finally been truthful with myself that I do have a problem with my drinking and taking the steps to help myself. I was in so much denial of my issues, mostly because I was so ashamed that I had let this awful disease take control of me and my life. Just sitting in the group and listening lets me know that I am not alone and I can get through this if I keep going back. I have yet to speak out loud but I know that it will come in time. I am so glad that I have taken the step through the doors it was one of the hardest things for me to do, but by doing so I am actually thinking different about many things. I know it is still early in all of this but to feel this positive is great. Have a great day everyone and thanks for reading.
I know exactly how you feel. To find out there is a whole room of people that understand what it is like to be you is amazing. Do a lot of listening because there are many who have the solution
I love that feeling of acceptance in AA. Sometimes if I am just having a bad day... and it has nothing to do with drinking... just going into the rooms and listening to other people... or venting myself helps.
I know for me AA was PART of my program... but, it wasn't the only part, I also sought the help of a theapist (sp)... and got on the right anti depression medication. All of this is part of a whole program that slowly and surely put me back together. Piece my piece.
Thanks,
Saliena
