Stopped counting days

I just realised that the last couple of days I have stopped counting them - been thinking its two weeks on Saturday instead - wierd as I obsessed with it every minute of the day !

Progress I think :-)

And the best - I don't recognise the man in the mirror!.. After staring at a bloated veiny alcoholic for last 15 years the transformation is amazing!!- thank you god for the second chance

Right at this moment I could not be happier!

SR thank you !!!

That is great!! I am still journaling almost every day, I am still tracking the darn days. I am hoping I will get to a point when I forget how many days I have.

Isn't it nice to see things improving with sobriety rainyengland? Since I moved to my new apartment (3 years ago), I had been complaining about the new light bulbs, saying how unflattering was the light of the bathroom, of my room, ecc....I even had them changed but still didn't suit me. I vaguely remember being mad at the electrician , the poor guy. Now I look at the mirror, and I realize, day by day, it wasn't the light, it was the real reflection of my bloated, tired, sick face....that's what alcohol does to our body.

Wonderful.
I do think that is a great sign and indicates a shift in your thinking/focus.
Glad to hear you are feeling happy!

at the beginning the counting was a sense of disappointment for me, so i had to truly stop focusing on it and once i did i felt better.
why do the days seem to go so slow when counting.

but now that i am 514 days in i dont have the same feeling

I was just thinking myself - to count or not to count. It helped a lot the first 200 or so days after I quit smoking - now I've lost track of that. Maybe I'll count until I start thinking in terms of weeks like you rainy. Also as a weekend drinker 7, 14, 21, 28 are bigg goals foe me and I'm only on 6

I don't keep track every day, but still acknowledge my milestones when they occur. Congratulations on 2 weeks!

I don't like counting the days. I have to keep checking my phone app to see what day I am because I forget. I was the same when I quit smoking

I will have three weeks this Saturday. Oh foo, I am counting again

Well done on the recovery progress you have made!

I have never made it past 3 days in the past, so to be on Day 5 for me is quite an achievement for me.

Yes, vanity can be a good thing sometimes.....I can't wait to lose my wine belly and to look vibrant and fresh again. WELL DONE.

I have been counting my days, but I agree its getting easier. I know exactly what you mean about losing the bloat! I actually have cheekbones? The old me is strarting to make her way out again. I've been sleeping well, and up early now as well. I use to never want to get up and face the day. Now,I'm actually enjoying it. I really forgot how it feels to be sober, its been so long!

Quite interesting that we notice thinks generally after the fact that they happened already.

This happened to me as well for the obsession of drugs and alcohol. I just realized one day I wasn't thinking about them anymore. My recovery program definitely helped to remove them. Never truly thought that would happen.

Keep on trudging, it gets even better.

Good for you. It gets easier with time. As many things in life do. BUT for me I still to this day remind myself that alcohol and me make for a terrible combination. I don't obsess but I do remember. As for the physical transformation. I'm down 22 pounds in nine months. I eat like a horse and still it is coming off. Again good for you and stay tuned for your new self.
