Alcoholic wife

Hi all ,
I am a devastated husband whose wife left me after 22 yrs of marriage.
Alcoholism crept up on us and took my wife. i tried all i could to help her but could do nothing . she is now living in a share house with 3 men and a woman, all with alcohol or drug problems and one of the men is now her partner and hes the same age as our son . im trying hard to forget her but 'each dawn i die'

DJ, you will find a lot of support in our Friends and Family forum. I hope you find some peace soon.

It might help to blame the disease and not the person, but as a recovering alcoholic I don't know how some people accomplish that.

Sorry for your pain, but thanks for sharing.

I'm sorry. I have to agree with Memphis: it's more like alcohol caused her to betaken away. Her own mind is not operational when someone is an alcoholic.

Wow, that is heartbreaking, Im sorry you were dragged into the pit with the alcohol. Good news is YOU can climb out. Healing takes time. Be loving and patient with yourself. Stay close to people who care about you - avoid making any big decisions until you are able to get on even keel. Take care!

this is sad. i truly hope you find happiness within yourself no matter what she is doing.
i am saddened by this number 22 and that this disease has effected your life in such a way.
please find peace for yourself and continue to be a father to your son and to push forward as you have been. i wish the best for your wife as well and that she finds recovery .
but you my friend have recovery of your own.
i dunno how long yall have seperated for but do cobsider embracing life by focusing on you and by perhapse you as well dating.
best of luck
