idk why- but thats it

ive never even thought about giving up the booze before- but after 4 years ive simply had it.
tired of being broke, lethargic, embarassing myself/ friends.
tired of people assuming i can be found at the bar

whats more is since ive lost the weight is i may have a real shot at being healthy for the first time in my life

too broke for a bottle and too hungover to drink it, ive resolved that its over. the smoking, drinking, spending, and asinine behavior are simply unsustainable and i think its time i start acting my age.

im beyond pleased to have found what appears to be a great community of supportive people and hope i dont dissapoint too many of you/ end up eating my words in the coming weeks.

ty/ happy day 1

Welcome to SR!
Been there, done that, stopped for good. If I can, you can. BTW, this is a great community, as you noted. So what are you going to do differently this time?

Hoffff you have!

Welcome.

I would not have even had a chance being sober with out the support I found here.

I hope you find the same!

welcome to SR hoffff! got a plan? you'll find tons of support here. have you considered AA or techniques like AVRT? it's great to start out with "i will not drink today." keep that with you every day throughout your sobriety but remember to augment it with other sobriety plans and techniques. sobriety takes a lot of mindfulness and work but it's worth it.

Hi, Hoff, and welcome to the team here. You will find a ton of support for you on your journey. I have a feeling you are going to do just fine.

I've resolved that its over. the smoking, drinking, spending, and asinine behavior are simply unsustainable and I think its time I start acting my age.
See? That's what I mean. You have taken responsibility for this, you are confident in your decision, and you are determined to make this work. 100%. This is the best starting point in my opinion.

Keep posting, Hoff. I wish you the best.

Hi hofff! You are wise to put an end to the chaos. I wish I had many years before I did.

Our best wishes on your Day One. I think you should be proud for reaching this conclusion, and wanting a better life for yourself. We're with you all the way.

Welcome Hoff!

Good luck on day 1! When that voice starts telling you "you weren't that bad, you can control it this time," just come here and read/post. You're making a great choice!
