Need a sponsor
I am new to recovery and I am terrified of getting a sponsor because that means I have to be "all in" I have been an expert at manipulating my wife and family. I am so scared to walk over that threshold. I have meet a few folks after meetings but I am so afraid because in my mind it seems like such a commitment. Any thoughts on this would be very appreciated.

Hi mds1212 - welcome
I'm not sure there's a lot of people who are 'ready' not totally...
I think everyone had that feeling of trepidation when committing to recovery, in whatever form... it's a big step and there's a lot of fear involved...& that fear will try to convince us that maybe we don't really need to go to the next level anyway...
I'm pretty sure you have dreams of a better life...a life without these alcohol hassles...you know you need more or you wouldn't be here asking.
Its a leap of faith to totally commit...but I've never regretted it...and I have a life thats pretty close to that one I used to dream of.
I was good at manipulation and hiding too - too good for my own good.
It felt good to lay that burden down.
Why not at least give it a go..?
