Welcome to SR!
If you've been on an 11 year binge, so to speak, you are going to need to change some thinking and behaviors (and maybe some friends and other things too) to get and stay sober. Do you have a plan? I've found that "white knuckling" it will only get you so far.

This isn't my first attempt. I've attempted to quit drugs and alcohol around the same number as the variety of drugs and alcohols I've consumed.
My only planning is that I will encounter Fear, and you should never turn your back on Fear, for it is a wild animal. One you might have to kill.

I'm not much of a killer type of person. I found that another way to deal with my demons was to laugh and point. Expose them for what they are, accept them, banish them. Fighting all the time gives me acid stomach.

Fighting one thing or another is all I know how to do, really.

I think that's pretty normal....Anything you do that causes you pain and misery that you stop doing...Could cause you to have flashbacks...Maybe that's why soldiers that fight in wars and come home are known to have them?

Welcome aboard as someone that grew up on Dead Tour and drinking and drugs to me since a child were normal. This sober life is just to rewarding to give it up.
You can enjoy it also.
