Cravings for Weeed only during work?
Hi All,
First, I've found this forum to be an awesome resource as I go back into recovery after 10 yrs of smoking weed. I've been sober for a whole 3 days now, and the cravings haven't been that bad at all until I got back to work today. This isn't the first time I've had this experience. In fact, every time I've tried to quit before, it was always a craving at work that led me to put in an order and go back to puffing. As the work day goes on, they seem to increase and increase until I just can't take it anymore and all I can think about is the relief I would feel if I could shut off my mind for a bit by having a puff.
I've always enjoyed the relaxed state generated by puffing where the executive center of the brain is shut down for a while. I work in software for a major mobile phone manufacturer and it's a pretty high paced and stressful environment. I guess the stress just gets to be so much that I want to "shut it down". When I was using I would take a few "drives" during the day to puff a bit and calm this urge, but obviously I don't have this option anymore...
I'm going to be fine for today - going to a meeting tonight (trying for 90 in 90), and have thought about catching some noon meetings see if it helps. Just interested if anyone else has this experience. I've literally not craved at all outside of the office, and this has been my experience in the past as well.

Working the steps gave me a new relief that I use in daily living. I don't crave alcohol, I have had more thoughts of smoking a bit, though, but those thoughts can be thought through to the consequences--I get really thirsty when I smoke.
Stay sober, stay stopped! You can do this again!

I smoked daily for 25 years and later added alcohol to the mix - when I stopped both stress was difficult, but not impossible to handle...
I found my capacity for dealing with stress was a lot better than I thought it was, once I started to use it & got past the feeling of being uncomfortable
Exercise helped me too...it's a great stress relief
