I felt pretty good up until tonight, being at one week i think the brain is becoming concerned about the lack of alcohol, was feeling the fog earlier today, ears are ringing louder than normal (i have tinnitus) and a tension headache, Last time quitting, i remember feeling better after two weeks, hopefully that will be the case this time.

I don't know Dan...If it was a piece of cake....I wouldn't have had to do the things I did and continue to do to remain happily sober....If it was a piece of cake...I don't think any of us would be here.
i don't mean a piece of cake in the whole bigger picture of staying happily sober, that won't be a piece of cake. i mean getting through the first 2 or 3 weeks while i feel a little unbalanced.

I don't think there's any easy way around that...Payback...You know...At least the results are worth it....I mean...Look at what the other option is...Just keep doing what you're doing....I still don't think it would hurt you to check out a meeting...But that's just me.
I was going to say exactly what Ann did. It was much harder for me to come back from my last binge. The years of drinking took their toll - I'm not as resilient as I once was. All the more reason for us to never put our bodies through that again.
Proud of you for sticking to it Dan.

40's by far not old. Im 50ish and I
know in my heart im not old.
I was in my late teens when I began
drinking and stopped at 30. So, at 30
my mentality was as young as the day
I began drinking.
At 21 yrs sobor, im still young. Hmmmm,
I like being young at heart even tho 50ish
is just a number.
My spouse has ringing in his ears as well,
and sought medical attention for it, but
was told nothing can be done to correct
the yrs. of damage from loud noises.
Right now he's trying a suppliment over
the counter to see if their can be some
relief. In the meantime, all he can do is
accept it and find ways to focus on something
else instead of the ringing.
At night, I use fans next to the bed which
gives you light noise to drown out the ringing.
Listening to music can also help.
Staying sober each day will get better i promise
because it has for me so I can enjoy my retirement
yrs happier than I have ever been.
So can you.
Your sober life is just beginning at a young at
heart age.
