A quick hello

Haven't posted around here much lately, apparently there is a lot to see and do in the world. I didn't realize this until I got sober. 51 days today and feeling pretty good. Had a couple of close calls but got through it. I do come around once in a while and read posts. I had a very unpleasant experience in a meeting a couple of weeks ago and was a little afraid to go back but I have been back a couple of times since then. Because of where I live, I don't have much of a choice of where I can go for meetings, but I decided to be strong and deal with the situation and I didn't need to drink to do so. Other than that life is better than i imagined it would be.

Congrats Chiyo on 51 days!! I am happy to hear you are doing well and your decision to go back to the meetings even after your bad experience says a lot about your dedication to staying sober! Great job!

Thanks everyone! It's been definitely an interesting and not easy time but I wouldnt change anything that I've done in the last (almost) two months. I can't even describe how much I love spending sober time with my family. I wish I hadn't wasted all those years on drinking but I'm not going to dwell on that, I've been given a chance at a new and better life and I'm going to take advantage of that to the fullest.

Hello Chiyo !!
Just saw your post. I was wondering how you were doing.

An unpleasant experience at an AA meeting... are you sure ??
Why would a room full of alcohol deprived, mentally unstable and thin-skinned drunks get "unruly" ??

Stick with the 1/3 rule.
When you walk into a meeting 1/3 are really glad to see you. 1/3 don't particularly care and 1/3 say "Crap, her again". Find and stick with the first 1/3 but still mingle with the other 2/3 as that's where you will learn most of your lessons.

Are you coming out into the County for meetings yet? Have your sponsor bring you to the south end. Check my "location" info .... the world does revolve around you !!

Glad to see you.

Bob

I like your location. I will have to make my way out there for some meetings. Things have been looking up for our family with my husband getting a better job, so we should be able to get a second vehicle soon and I'll have an easier time getting around.

Great job Chiyo - so proud of you. 51 days is fantastic, and you're learning to face things rather than douse them with alcohol. Who knew we didn't really need it after all?

Thanks! Sometimes I feel guilty for being so happy while others are having a hard time and suffering. By no means is this process easy and I've had my share of days when I wanted to give up and drink myself to death. I want people to know that it does get a lot better and the result is worth fighting for. I'm still getting used to being in a good mood lol. I spent half of my life a miserable drunk.
