Day 3
Working on Day 3. Im dreading the weekend. My wife and I have had a trip planned to Atlantic City with friends this weekend, and our friends like to drink. Its going to be tough!! My wife doesnt really drink, so that helps a little, but the temptation will be there.

brilliant mate, well done for getting to day 3! keep going it will pass soon enough...and if i can offer some advice bout your plans for the weekend, id stay at home and keep myself safe if i were you, the first week is quite a vulnerable time...i'm sure your friends will understand, also have you thought about aa? the safest place to be (for me) in the early days was in a meeting surrounded by the good people of aa

You could just tell them your unable to have a drink at the moment due to !!
Say it straight away and stick to it ,or cry of ill. Would it be as dangerous by your self at home. Days in the first week can throw some odd things at you, or at least it did for me, I really needed my own home. Whatever remember stay clear don't trust that inner voice it will lead you down the wrong path. You know that ,that's why we're here.
Good luck stay in touch.
If you pick up any coping strategies ,post them every one is good for someone else's armoury.
John.

Hey Cdub, I agree with above two guys. I don't want to put a damper on your plans but I have been to just about every Casino in the states and one thing they all do well is throw booze in your face. If you think you are ready for that fine go but if not make it a sick day for the weekend. Everyone will understand and if then you know what o can do, good luck.
Congrats on day 3. The first couple days of recovery are tenuous ones for the person trying to stay sober. You recognize the danger. Atlantic City isn't going anywhere. Reschedule.
If you feel you must go (and so many in early recovery feel they must put themselves in a position where drinking is an option), have an exit strategy. Be prepared to flee to your room, or leave if you must.
Let us know how it goes.
