Thanks to all who helped me get through those first few days.
I am proud to admit I am sober and have been for 8 days not much to brag about but still an accomplishment.
I just want to show my appreciation as well as saying you all are right now finally I can say I feel better sober than I have while I was drinking.
I have felt better the past few days my head finally cleared than I have in along time.
Still going to be taking this one day at a time.thanksthanks

Hey I remember 8 days like it was the day before yesterday,,,,,,,,,and I couldn't have said that a month ago.
I'm getting strong images of places I went when I was in my late teens and remembering so vividly almost smell them .Amazing 40 years ago just before I started to drink.
Let's keep in there and givethisna good go.

Hi Pbody
I agree with Hevyn 8 days is something to be proud of. We al know that getting and staying sober is not easy and takes effort n our part. You have put in the effort and deserve the rewards.
Good for you Spinach
Both of you hang in there and stay strong. It is so worth it
All the best

You also might want to read up on Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome. The physical changes are less drastic in the coming months but continue to take place. Sounds like the worst is over.
Remember.... it's easier to stay sober than to get sober (at least for me).

I am still concerned of relapse of course but I don't have much time to stress about it, Sunday my wife had a "work award ceremony" with like 7 open bars she was drinking everyone was drinking.
yet I guess one of her co-workers accidentally brushed into her (the next day at work) and immediately apologized in fear of me, so I guess I am intimidating while sober. Which isn't always a good thing.
yesterday my old logic professor professed my intellect as being um well lets just say lacking he wrote me an email pretty much saying its not you but me break up and doesn't think I am understanding the book we are reading in our little book club.
disappointing but I will get my Sundays back
Yet it is wonderful not being confused and having my reality distorted
