Smile Sober Day 6, nice to wake up looking rested!

Feeling quite clear headed now which is a good feeling. This afternoon in the office will be tough - it's Friday, nearly everyone starts discussing what they're going to drink tonight, pubs they're going too etc. I've just got zone out of this chatter! Think I'm going to go straight the cinema after work and watch Girl with a Dragon Tattoo - bit of escapism for a couple of hours then look forward to waking up sober on Saturday. Take care all xx

Know exactly where you're coming from. Although I historically love Friday nights (
The weekend starts here!!) this is the big p....up night of the week and all the mates will be out, come rain or shine regardless, the same old ritual, the same old pubs, yawn!! Tonight I have already put in arrangements well before time, I'm going out to dinner with my daughter and yes, it will be wonderful to wake up without a hangover and all the accompanying horrors that will bring.

Well done on your 6th day without drink Amy.

Distraction is a good recovery tool. In fact a distraction of sorts is part the "Stop-Thought" recovery tool.

Keep up the progress!

Congrats on six days Amy. If you want to be sober, let it be so.

Hi AnyLouise

Today is my day 6, too. I'm heading up to see a friend tonight and told her i am not drinking so won't be bringing my usual vino up.

Haven't noticed any withdrawals, maybe a bit more fidgety than usual but other than that I am OK.

Just keep busy and keep in mind why you are doing this. That in itself is keeping me going.

Enjoy your evening xx

Six days is great news Amy. Developing some sort of alternative to the drinking routine is really important in early recovery. A good movie and no hang over the next day is such a blessing. Keep it simple!

Great job! This is my first Friday not going out. Instead I am having 4 12yo girls sleeping over. Yikes- normally I would pop some pills and hide in my room. Not tonight- here's no a new way of life!

I was just thinking the same thing: GOD it is nice to wake up and NOT be hungover!! Friday was usually a hangover day for me because the weekend started on Thursday night! Day 5 for me.
