Led my first meeting today
Led my first meeting today
Just want to say, it was an exhilarating experience.. I haven't been sober for very long, but it is nice to feel like I'm 'part of something', and made me have an even stronger resolve to stay sober. It was nice to lead a group of about 25 people, and feel like I was making a difference in their lives. What I didn't expect, is how nervous I was! I have presented products and talked with top tier professionals in the world without breaking a sweat.. in here though, wow, the stakes are so much higher, you're leading someone to save their life.
What a great chance God gave to me today, to make a difference.

In sales we say pretty much the same things, and the customers say pretty much the same things, much of the interactions become rote after a while and very little is personal or a new experience for us.
Plus in a meeting we are concerned with telling the truth about ourselves and not presenting a product. Whole different experience, one not to be confused with public speaking. And it's much better if we are not 'on'.

My sponsor had me chair my first meeting a couple of years ago. I run a lot of meetings at work, but you're right, that was different. I was worried about screwing up but it went ok.
I've chaired many meetings since then and always enjoy it. I also breathe a sigh of relief every time I chair a topic meeting and somebody actually has a topic.
