Feeling the same way

Finding every reason to go back right now.. I have a huge week going in my business and I am like after this week I will stop.. I have a wedding on saturday.. after this week I will stop.. I am launching a major business currently and might need to celebrate on friday..after this week I will stop.. trouble is.. what am I going to do next week.. and could I be even better at everything and have huge business weeks .... if I stop this week?

I think that I will stop this week..

You can do it Pete. I know it.

You have found a great place for support and encouragement here in SR. It has literally helped me save my own life.

Make the commitment and don't look back.

All the very best to you.

Sounds like you are a motivated person. Which means that you have probably made a lot of failed attempts at many things before you get it exactly right. But each time you likely learned something that made the next attempt that much more successful. Some folks get the quitting right the first attempt, but many more of us need more attempts to figure it out. The only way you can fail is if you stop trying. Stay with it. You will get it right if you commit yourself. Rooting for you.

If you drink long and hard enough all of the above will eventually enter your life in one form and to one degree or another. I am not a self pitier and have honestly led a very charmed life, which is why it took me a long time to see how my drinking slowly erodes my foundation. Good fortune favors the prepared and able.

Hi icecreampete - welcome to SR.

If you want to quit, but find you're having trouble doing it on your own, I really recommend finding some support.

Here are some of the main recovery players:

You can do it Pete - maybe the first step is that reaching out?

When you're drowning the first thing to do is get out of the water. If you can't get yourself out, call for help to get out. Once out of the water, don't go back in. Simple? Yes. Easy? No, but it can be done cause I did it. I got help getting out of the 'water' I was drowning in and continue to get help to stay out of it. You can do this.

Sounds like your in a lot of thought yourself here. You need to consider maybe not drinking for a day? each day. Instead of thinking of next week. Quit for a day. Try it. Then try it tomorrow after each new day and don't count the days I've done it, it works and been holding on staying sober today very well. Good luck. sorry off topic here a bit lol.

When alcohol turned me into a depressed mess....I too felt lost and scared. It was a dark time for me.

My doctor said to abstain and get connected to my local AA.
That was the best advice I ever followed thru with...

Welcome Pete...glad you found us....

Now is a good time..don't think about it. If you think about it you will always find an excuse not to. Life is better without it!
