A quick intoduction

Hello all, I only found this site yesterday. I have had time to read through a few posts & would like to thank all who have contributed as alot of the hardships people have shared have made me realise that I am not alone. I've tried AA but personally found the religious theme incompatible. So again thanks & I look forward to sharing & gaining experiences on our road to recovery. Oh by the way, I'm only 5 days sober, suffering the weird dreams & night sweats but on the whole feeling much much better in myself.

Welcome to the family. I would think that most of the physical withdrawal would be done by five days. But yes, you are still getting rid of the toxins so will feel a bit unsettled for a while.

Glad you found us and joined our recovery family. I hope we can help you as much as this site has helped me.

Hi Nose - glad you found us. Being among those who really understand made all the difference for me. I felt so alone until I found SR. I got so much encouragement and hope by being here, I never looked back - even though I drank all my life.

It's good to hear you sounding so positive. Congratulations on wanting to change your life. Please let us know how you're doing.

Hi Nose and welcome!

There are lots of us out here getting sober.... it's great to have you along!

I don't attend AA either, but I do come here every day - it helps remind me what a gift sobriety is.

See you around the forum.....

Thanks for the greetings & messages of encouragement guys .. It's 5:15am here and I managed 5 hours sleep last night, would've slept longer but my 8 yr old climbed into my bed and he snores like a pig lol.

My test will be today after I take him back to his mums, I only get to keep him alternate weekends and home time always seems to be a trigger for me. I've made plans to spend this evening with a good (non drinking) friend, but in my head I've already started making excuses to have a drink. I've drunk pretty heavily for the last 15 yrs and now I've just turned 42 so I hope to use that milestone as a turning point, so expect to see me around for the next few weeks
