Getting Started and Scared
Getting Started and Scared
I've been drinking daily for six years. Some days are heavier than ever. I drink for many reasons but mainly to relieve anxiety. I went on a huge binge over the last three weeks that left me terribly sick, unable to eat, drink, sleep. I was so sick that I almost couldn't move so I gave up drinking right away. Well, this turned out to be a bad idea because my withdrawl symptoms were scary...especially at night. I had a few of my priscription Xanax pills left, which helped me sleep and with the night muscle twitches (which are the worst withdrawl issue for me, and obviously with my anxiety. But I've run out of Xanax and I don't have a regular physician nor insurance. I've made an appointment with an MD my dear friend suggested but it isn't for another week. I can't take another night of insomnia, muscle spasms, delirious strange thoughts and I don't know what to do. Do I continue to drink until I can get to my doctor for withdrawl support? I'm so scared...

I agree with Anna. I'd either call the doctor and request an appointment today or I'd go to the ER right now.
I know you're scared. None of us want you to be there alone. The ER or a detox center is your best bet!

yeah, there really is not withdrawl support but to get to the ER! ive been in that exact same position, but not nearly for as long as you were going at it.. trying to quit drinking w/ xanax and vice versa when i ran out of xanax.. people think xanax is just "another drug" you can kick on your own.. its just as bad as alcohol.. theyre the top two when it comes to withdrawing.. not trying to scare you.. just get yourself checked in somewhere, please..
