Class of September 2011
Fallingwater- When I first stared knitting, I was having the hardest time following the instructions to cast on the first row of stitches. I kept getting it wrong and the instructions were so vague. So I went to you tube and looked up videos on knitting. I found a really good one where it showed how to start that first row. I had to watch it several times before I got it. I took a quick peek on you tube and they do have some videos on how to crochet. Seeing it done and having someone walk you through it might help. Good luck with your crocheting and congrats on Day 8.

I have just started Day 4. I'm feeling pretty good....the shakes are gone, as are the majority of the sweats. However, I haven't been sleeping with a darn at night! Is that normal? Even when I was sober for 10 years, I never had a problem going to sleep and staying asleep. (Of course, when I was drinking I'd just pass out....no problem sleeping there!) I've started exercising again, which I thought would wear me out and help me sleep. Any suggestions?

YES, if you read through our posts from the first few days, we ALL had that same complaint. I have gone through it a million times, so it seems, when I first stop drinking, I just toss and turn and sweat, all night long! It was ariound day 4 or so when I finally got a full nights sleep. I am on day 8.
Hang in there!!

Well, I stopped drinking on Aug. 29th and it's now Sept. 29th - me happy girl
I'm now going to aim for the next 30 days - wish me luck!
I can honestly say that for every day of the last month I've had to deal with the voice going "for god sake, relax and have a drink like everyone else" and have had to stop myself and think through the consequences. Saying "and then what?" to myself was a great help.
Also, writing here is fantastic - kinda helps to prepare me for dealing with possible scenarios that may come up.
Hope everyone is good today...@boozefree, keep going this time...you starting this thread brought me to having 30 days under my belt.

Day 22 and warm sunshine has prompted urges as the weekend approaches. The voice inside my head is telling me to go and socialise and I urgently need a plan for tomorrow and Saturday as nothing arranged yet.

Hello!
Working on Day 13 here. The first thing I do in the morning is come onto SR and read all these posts that remind me why I need to stay sober.
There have been several moments when some of you have written something that I haven't been able to put into words yet. Descriptions of the agony of being hungover, the feelings of helplessness and remorse, but also the optimism and joy of having a clear mind to make decisions with and enjoy all the moments we missed out on. It's so comforting to know of people who feel the exact same way, so thank you.
I've been having some slight urges but I have a very stable support network and I know I can always come on here for some support.
Good luck to everyone as we finish off this month!

Congratulations on 30 days Tillies
Welcome back BF - do you think maybe it's time to start thinking about other things you can add so you can make sure this is the last day 1?
I'd hate for you to put years into this cycle like I did
