I'd just say, "no thanks, tried it and didn't like it." Don't have to tell them how much I tried it...

My dad's been sober since shortly before I was born. He's now in his sixties, but whenever anyone asks if he wants a drink he says "no thanks, I'm not old enough yet."

I haven't thought of a good response yet, but for the time being I've stuck with "no thanks, I don't drink."

Nah, I get asked all the time too.

On the other hand, it's usually the heavy drinkers / alcoholics who really turn on the heat though.

I just tell 'em I turned in my pro-card a couple years ago and don't drink anymore.

It's funny that drinking is SO MUCH a part of our culture that we have to think of ways to explain why we don't do it!

This may also partially be a function of the people I'm used to hanging out with.....
