Chips Ahoy

Cleaning and organizing some things (product of that old sober energy) and I came across my little box of AA chips, terribly outnumbered by the welcome chips. I'm thinking I don't want to see another welcome chip in that little box ever again.

"Those in a hurry do not arrive." Zen saying

At least you never gave up and you are now sober. That is a great feeling. This is not my first time in recovery. I only have one white chip and that is going to be the only white chip I will ever have. Getting my one month on Tuesday. Yay me!

I either pass mine on or give them to a chip group box.

That's a good idea since I can't pawn them.

The most important chip I ever have received and will not part with is my 24 hour chip. It is what started my journey to recovery and reminds me I only have today no matter how many years I have acquired. As I trudge this road of recovery I have to keep in mind the gutter is always on either side of me so I have to stay in the middle to be safe. For me that means consistently working the program of recovery that works for me. I do hope that you continue your journey and never have to receive that welcome chip again.

Each of those chips was a seed of hope.

I'm going to make a clock out of my first year of chips. A sobriety clock.

A friend of mine picked up so many desire chips that one time when the hall ran out of chips someone called her and asked if she'd return some of them. She just celebrated her 10th sobriety anniversary last may.

Good thread. I got some. They are alright. 24 hour chip is all that is needed though.

I do not collect them anymore...may get my 18 mos. though. In the beginning I did not feel I deserved them because I caused so much disgrace to God, my family, AA, and friends whom I hurt...including myself.

Oh but isn't forgiveness a wonderful thing?
