So i have noticed that the last few days, it seems everthing i watch or hear is talking about drugs or drinking..especially my DOC, weed! It's like when your preggo and you see other pregnant women everywhere. Has anyone experienced this? probably just my hightened awareness, seeing as i'm trying not to think about it. But dang it seems in my face constantly...Doesnt make me want it tho, so thats a good thing =)

Well it's good that it doesn't make you want it. I feel like every other commercial on tv is about alcohol, then there is my fashion magazine that has adds that make it look so good....so yes I also have the same feeling.

It's definately hightened awareness--like thinking about your tongue in your mouth. All of a sudden for awhile you can't not keep noticing that its there. Glad you're not tempted.

I'm definitely feeling the same way. It's everywhere! I hadn't noticed how much people around me talk about drinking either until this week. It's not so much that it's tempting me, but it's a constant reminder that is really annoying when I'm trying to take the focus off booze.

Exactly Nofirewater! I dont want to be reminded, i'm working so hard to rid it from my mind and then there it is again. needless to say "weeds" is one of my favorite shows ever...i dont think i will be watching it for awhile. It seems theres so many goodbyes...

I'm still more attuned to the use of alcohol and drugs in movies and TV than I was when I was drinking and smoking weed.

But I've managed to tune out all of the advertising for alcohol at least.

Advertising for weed still gets my attention because where I live it's only recently become more frequent and out in the open with all of the medical MJ dispensaries. It's going to take me a while to get used to that.

I dont like the fact MTV promotes drinking in their reality TV shoes like The Jersey Shore I live by where its filmed so many people I know spot them at the bars down here. They get paid to drink pretty much. Why can't there be more shows on the air esp. MTV which is geared towards teens sending out a positive message rather than a road to alcoholism or making binge drinking look cool.

Alcohol sells and the government makes money off drugs(lawyers, courts, police, etc).

America IS commercialism. Figure it out...
