1 week sober yet want to seek out addictive behavor
We are one week sober today yet we still want to seek out addictive substances .
We still want to use Valium and still want to drink.
Its more the drinking part that we seem to focus on at the moment.
Today/tomorrow we get money and we want to go out and buy some cider with it.
Where my husband is more focused on the bills we have to pay and getting food in .
We had a meeting tonight and it helped some but we came the realize that we struggle with step one of the 12 steps
We admitted we were powerless over alcohol/ addiction -that our lives have become unmanageable
Has our life become unmanageable ? We don't know
Are we powerless over alcohol / addiction ? We can stop any time we want and we have just not when my husband had told us to stop.
So why the heck are we going to AA meetings and on an addiction forum?
Because we know something with our use of drugs and drink isn't right.
and that we need to do something about it.
Unsure how to start really

There's seems to be some contradictions here Ella.
If you can stop any time you like - then why do you still want to seek out booze and valium?
I'm not a 12 stepper but I do believe we need to accept we have a problem - and then do something about it.
If AA's the only option where you area I recommend you stick with it

Yes, I agree, Ella, your statements are totally contradictory.
If you are craving drugs and alcohol, then it's a problem for you. I think you have come to this site because you are looking for support and information. Hopefully you will find a way to deal with your addiction.
