Hi pidiferous - welcome. This is a very good place to come for support and advice.
Maybe you can start a thread of your own and tell your story. It might help you feel better to get it all out .
I quit drinking 3 weeks ago today and I can tell you it does get easier. I thought about "not drinking" all day every day at first. The last few days I have had moments where I forgot about the whole thing.
Read more and post more - you can make it through today w/out drinking.

It is now 2:27pm. And I'm feeling tired. You know what I'm going to do? Take a nap. Nothing wrong with it. If you're tired, sleep! (Assuming you can do so.)
No sense in pushing yourself too hard. Remember the HALT theory. When I'm tired, I'm liable to pickup a drink or a drug. And I really don't want to do that.
