Milk Thistle?
I use it...I take a capsule with each meal.I noticed at first a slight laxative effect but that was only the first few days and went away.
Other than that I don't feel any different. If you are on any meds then you should ask your doctor whether or not milk thistle will interact with them.
Also, make sure you are drinking plenty of water

that's great advice, thanks!! To get past my liver concerns i have stopped taking all medications...vitamins, tylenol, and all BP meds as they case me pain when i take them...so no more of them. its been 2 weeks since i stopped them. i feel better than when i was taking them
Hi,
I hope you checked with your dr before stopping the BP medication.
I use milk thistle and have for years, with my drs consent. I don't feel anything at all, but I do think there is good info that it has a positive effect on liver function.

I took around 1 gram of milk thistle every day for about 10 months. I am now taking about 200mg per day and I feel great.
It is hard to say what the benefit has been. Nothing bad has come from it, and it cant be a whole lot worse than drinking a bottle of whisky.

Stopping BP meds is a very bad idea if you're not having your BP monitored closely and accurately. I know that medical advice is a 'no-no' on SR, but I do have relevant professional qualifications and here are some facts: increased BP is typically asymptomatic - i.e., you continue to feel fine. But increased BP carries increased risks - the most concerning being an increased risk of cerebrovascular haemorrhage (stroke). Please see your primary care physician and *only* stop taking BP meds under medical supervision.
