Thanks 4 your post.
Fear was a big trigger for me too. And I always imagine it a lot worse inside my head.
Just glad that I don't have to live this way anymore.

Another good fear quote:

A life lived in fear is a life half lived.
-strictly ballroom

Since dealing with my debt I don't fear phone calls from unknown numbers anymore

My sponsor has drilled in my head that every character defect I have originates in fear. Fear causes so many ill behaviors. The opposite of fear is faith.

Thanks for sharing!

Yes, Lipitor, that's a good Churchill quote and didn't F.D.R., Churchill's friend, say, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself!" Some truth in that but small consolation to a person out of a job and with a family to feed, as was true in the Depression when he said that. Anyway, I know one thing. If there isn't anything to worry about my mind always manages to invent something. I'm a chronic worrier, as was my mom before me. She taught me to worry. And then I think that this worry habit was my addicted brain setting me up so I'd have an excuse to drink. "Ain't it awful! (Let's have a drink!)". Then if you become addicted you don't need to invent a worry since you've got lots and lots to worry about. It's a set up. Interesting that they use that term "set up" in bars. (Bring your own bottle and we'll provide the set up). So my addicted brain was setting me up to drink and the way it did that was through fear and worry.

I've never really had much of a problem with fear other than having a self-confidence issue on occasion. However, since I've been sober, I have one major fear: alcoholism. Just the thought of drinking these days scares me to death. If that's the only significant fear that I'll ever really need to worry about, I can easily live with it.
