My husband is an alcoholic, my father is an alcoholic and my sister is now showing addiction signs. I left my husband one month ago and am staying in my parents' house. I find it hard to open up at al-anon meetings and I just need to scream my story in the hopes that someone can hear it. I remember about a year ago, I tried to leave him also. I 'ran away', I ended up at an AA meeting. Although there were some very nice people who gave me a place to stay for some nights, there were others who were very offended that I was there. Please, I feel terrified and alone and lost in all of this garbage.

You are in a good place being on here. There seems to be a variety of boards and chats that could really be a help for you. There are a tonne of very supportive people and I would imagine their are lots of family members who are struggling as well.
