Rock bottom, I am sure of it....
Well, this is my first post, and I would like to think of it as hitting rock bottom and realizing, theree is a problem, and its me.....I have been abusing narcotics, percocet is my drug of choice, for about 2 yrs now. It did start off ok, I was taking them for a fracture that needed surgery, after that it all fell apart...I am taking up to 200mg a day, now I have realized I have an issue, and I am ready to do something about it..
So heres to day one.....have decided to cut pills in half and go slowly, vs cold turkey....I dont have the guts to do it, nor have I told my famly, husband includedd.
I can do this, I know I can..........

Welcome Sis!
You will find lots of support here. I agree working out a plan with your Dr. is a great idea. I had a problem with oxycodone following an injury a few years ago. The problem for me is I still need them occasionally for another condition.
My Dr. worked out a very good plan with me. Because my condition is forever, he put me on a non-narcotic medication for everyday use. I am prescribed a certain number of percocet that he can monitor over a period of months to insure it is not becoming a problem again.
These days I have to be in a lot of physical pain to take one. I'll often go months at a time without any.
My point is just that my doctor worked out a plan with me that made the process much easier than it would have been trying to do it on my own.
Congratulations on taking the first step.

Welcome SistersForever - it's great that you're addressing this now when you first realize the problem. Addiction always gets worse and can take us down to a really low place. My issues were with alcohol, but I think it's the same dynamic. We always think "just one more" will be even better and then we'll cut back.........
