What a fun thread...I love the photos, will see if I have one to post when I'm back at the computer on Monday. I'm like Sharon...it took moving several times and always coming back to realize this is home. I'm a 12 the generation NYC area gal...and something shrivels in me when I live on the wrong side of the Hudson! And I'm born and raised in the CT suburbs:-)
I don't take advantage of enough stuff in my area...
I like my fenced in back yard. Especially after I do the yard work.
Recently discovered some bike trails close to me, like those.
Close to a few lakes. Don't really do much on lakes but did ride my bike to one a few weeks ago.

Four distinct seasons - fall has started here already.
It can snow 4 feet in one day.
We had snow on the ground for 6 months a few years ago.
Moose, deer, black and grizzly bears regularly visit town.
Alpine starts at 2,500 feet above sea level.
Mountains rise up to 6,500 near town and 9,900 feet nearby.
City is at 250 feet above sea level.
At the head of a 60 mile long system of complex channels from the open ocean.
You cannot see the horizon.
Over any mountain around town its as wild as its ever been.
It's possible to walk south to Vancouver or north to Alaska and not have to jump over a fence.
When I walk into an old growth rain forest, I feel its embrace.

I live on a acreage so there are trees, vegetable garden, lots of lawn and flowers in the warm months... I can see some neighbors from my house. In the backyard, I can see horses, moose, elk, deer, ducks, etc. I live in Canada... so lots of snow in the Winter. It really is beautiful where I live, I consider myself fortunate.
I'll put in a good word for Canada - I live on the East coast and enjoy sailing (I keep my sailboat 5 minutes from my house). Two weeks ago I had to go to the ER, I waited two minutes to get to an exam room, had blood tests and xrays, ultrasound, and walked out with a prescription for meds. The staff were ready to do the procedures before I got to them (this was on a Saturday night). Followed up with a trip to the family doctor and filled a three month prescription.
Total cost - $5.

I'm in Ohio, where we have 4 seasons, and sometimes all in one week!
They say, "If you dont like the weather, stick around, it will change pretty quickly".
it is very green , lots of trees, and where I am is a smallish town, with plenty of parks close enough to visit in an hour. Close to cincinnati, where i was born.
Fall is in the air this am, but soon, it will be in the 90's again.
I am visiting mydaughter, nearby, and out her window, i seem farms, lots of wide open space. birds aplenty, deer, coyote, groundhog, squirrel, bobcats on occasion.
Not too exciting, but when I am not here, i miss it.
love the southwest, and would live there if possible.
hugs to all this beautiful am,
chicory
