My personal best part of being clean
I love waking up every morning and not having that iminent sense of shame come crashing down on me and feeling like I've been punched in the stomach! I look forward to facing my family now and not dread it !

OMG! I fell the same way when I didn't drink the night before. I can call my family and friends and know they are not mad at me. Such a great feeling. The morning after drinking I am usually afraid to call people that I have dialed the night before because I just don"t want to hear the lecture. But the last few days have been pleasant for me and sounds like for you.

Grace2 you will definitely feel that way. Once your body and mind adjusts to the changes they are going through, you will feel the fog clear and start to feel and notice and appreciate all the positive things that have been going on in your life that you just didn't see before. The "ugly" feeling will pass, just be patient. Also, I am a huge believer in the power of positive thinking. Alot of the disease, in my humble opinion, is mental. If you look for positive, you will find it, I promise you that. Even if something seems really bad, just look and focus on that wee bit of good that came out of it. Maybe I am a dreamer, but years ago, I was horribly down for a lot of years and I read a book about the power of positive thinking and really, it was life changing in many aspects of my life. I continue to practice it today and you know what, the glass tends to be half full for me and I am grateful for that. I can guarantee you that has what has got me through quitting drinking and smoking. I just look for the positive and ignore the negative.
