hi, im pete, and a newbie!!
dont know if this the right place to say hello, but hello.
ive been on and off the drink for about six years, was doing ok till the weekend, when i had a glass of pink fizzy stuff!!!
and im not a good person now!!
nice to write it down and get it of me chest!!
been to a few aa type places and dont like them

Welcome Pete! Glad you're here. Have you quit drinking? I couldn't tell from your post.
Alcohol really isn't worth all the suffering we go through. One of the worst things is the way it makes us feel about ourselves. I hope you can get sober and start feeling better about yourself again. SR is a great place to come for support.

Welcome Pete - sorry I didn't see this earlier. It's great you have joined us. SR helped me get sober after 25 yrs. of heavy drinking. I thought I needed booze to live, but I was wrong. I wasn't living anyway - just going through the motions. When I saw all the people here who had gotten their lives back on track, I knew I could do it too. I always felt so alone before finding SR.

Talking (typing) out loud does off-load alot of the burden.
You're not alone here; we understand. Keep posting and reading around the forums.
There's lots of different recovery programs out there. You're with great folks here. Glad you're with us.

Welcome to the SR family Pete! 
I hope we can help you get and stay sober. There's lots of support and good information here. Read read read and post your thoughts and questions. I was a chronic relapser, couldn't stay sober for too long, but now with the help of this site and my counselor I've got six months sober and boy oh boy is it great!
