Hello Folks!
Hello Folks!
I'm an opiate addict. I didn't plan to become this, it just happened over the course of 17 years due to medical need. It wasn't supposed to be this way. Withdrawal, for the millionth time, begins tomorrow. I am so glad I found this site. I want this out of my life. The problem always begins after two weeks sober.
Welcome Ocelot,
How is your support system? When that two week mark hits you need to have some good people to call on. Have you checked out any NA meetings in your area?
Wishing you the best of luck! (on day 5 myself)

Welcome to the SR family. Lots of support and good information here. Have you looked into the substance abuse forum? Lots of experience strength and hope there.

I have no one to support me at home. I've been a functional addict and nobody is aware. I kept it to myself all these years.
Assuming you have a job or otherwise get out in the world, chances are very good that some people know (or suspect) that you have issues. Thinking that our drinking and using is a big secret is a very common misconception that we alkies and addicts hold dear.
