Hello all, I am so happy to have found this forum. I have been lurking around for a couple of days and cannot believe how awesome this place is. Bottom line, I believe I have decided to make changes before it was too late. I have started and stopped with alcohol use for a number of years. Fortunately I was never a "daily" drinker, but when I did drink, it was always like my first month in college. For Christmas, I bought my self a nice defense lawyer for my DUI last Thursday. I was at the infamous company holiday party, and well, should have called for a ride home. I was only a few points over the limit, but over is over and now I am facing a suspension and costs which I was not prepared for. If I do not stop now, I am going to lose my job, my wife, my home, and possibly my life. I am excited to be here and look forward to lending a hand to other members as well. Merry Christmas everyone!!
Hi and Big Welcome!
I'm so glad you decided to post.
It sounds like you have gotten the wake-up call that you needed. I'm glad no one was hurt and that hopefully you can move forward now, with recovery.

Thanks for the hellos. I made it through Christmas with not a drop of booze. I had a lot of people who are not familiar with my issues trying to shove it my face, but I held strong. It was tougher than I thought it would be, but I feel good knowing that I will not wake up tomorrow with a hangover. I also worked out yesterday. That felt great. This is going to be a long road, but keeping a positive mind is so important.
The way you think is key I also believe. "Change your thoughts and change your life" is a book I'm in the midst of. Very powerful. Congratulations on making it through the day sober. May this be but one of many, many sober days for you.

I got some housework done today!! I started a master bath about 1 year ago and it is only half done. I used to work on it on the weekends, but lately, I have been too tired from drinking the night before. I made some serious head way today and got some good exercise as well. Feels good to be back in a reality of accomplishment. Just need to keep pushing forward and enjoy the rewards!!
