AA members in my area?
Are there any AA members in my area? I could really use an AA buddy...for some reason I'm nervous about going alone...don't know why.
Being alone outside of my home (comfort zone) is an ongoing issue with me...thats probably why I started drinking.
Thanks

Above is a Great idea. Call and ask if someone can pick you up and take you to a meeting. Someone who is willing to do that (and there are alot of people like that in aa) is likely real and actually gives a shat. Great place to start your journey.
It never went any where but, I'd suggested having a site like that on here. Sort of a break down of regional AA etc.
I'd like to have at my disposal any AA functions going around the tri state area where I live.

As Anna alreay suggested, call up your AA hotline in your area Sherie, for an extra comfort factor for you, ask them if you could meet up with a lady to take you to a womans only meeting first. When calliing the hotline they may give you several options to where you do not have to go to that first meeting alone.

Thank you all, you have been a great help. I will do that, since my sister made me promise her I would go to atleast 2 meetings before I went to see her for Christmas.

And here's the website you can use to find meetings SYRAA.ORG - Alcoholics Anonymous in Syracuse, New York
If you have to, stand outside a meeting and grab someone's arm as they're going in. I'm sure you'll make friends quickly

Hi Mark,
No, my sister is not an alcoholic. She doesn't even drink. She has been trying for years to get me to realize that I was an alcoholic and my drinking was becoming a problem. It was starting to effect her and her girls and I didn't even realize it at the time. Of course now I do.
