helping my brother come clean
My brother is 47. he has hit bottom. I just flew him here to N.C. to live with me and my non-drinking family. he's been sober almost 2 weeks now. Need some tips on helping him thru this other than complete love and support!
That is really nice of you to help like that. For me it has been crucial to have my family's support.
I really dont have much advice to give. But from a users stand point I can say that he needs to help himslef more than anything. Its good you can give him support and even some help in housing and stuff. But as far as the actual getting and staying sober. That needs to come from him.
We have a family and friends forum too.

Good luck! I hope that he stays sober. Remember that an addicts mind tends to operate differently than a non-addicts. Some things might just not make any sense at all, and they might not to him either, but just be there.
I think it is awesome that you are giving him the love and support that I feel is essential to any recovering addict. Keep us updated on his progress!

I came here trying to find advice in order to help my friend too.
Good luck.
nice to meet you, jimmyssister,
i'm a mom of an alcoholic, and alanon (a friends and family of alcoholics support group) meetings help me.
here's the 3 c's of alanon -
you didn't cause the addiction.
you can't cure it.
and you can't control it.
there's a 4th c - and that is that you have choices as to how you allow to affect your life..
keep reaching out!
hugs, k
