Gonna do it.

It's time, no more whining....I have to suck it up and get this first step done.....it's only been 5 hours or so but I already feel kind of shaky....part of the process......not the fun part for sure. So I am going to hole up and watch some movies.......and hope this passes quickly. Thanks for everyone's support, it has helped.

I want to be happy again. I want my life back. The hell with this.

Good for you VC.
You show that alcohol who the boss is.

Or let the alcohol be the boss, but ensure that you aren't working for it anymore?

VC,
U stated,

Now, u are deciding on a plan.
Did you eat?
Sleep some?
Drink lots of H2O, juices, etc.
If it gets bad and you can't hold on, come here, call someone, go to AA, to to the ER.
When I started this process over 5 yrs. ago, I had to take it slow, sometimes an hour at a time.
I never had the shakes, I did not drink daily, I was a binge drinking, so we are different in a lot of ways, but we both have at least one thing in common, we are drunks.
Stay strong!

VC,

you can do it. grab a couple gallons of water, a bedpan, and handcuff yourself in front of those movies. if you can, keep your computer nearby and check in for support whenever you need. we're here for you. you can do this.

Quitting really is the best decision you will ever make. It is very hard, but you CAN do it!

It WILL GET BETTER.

Hang in there, and don't hesitate to go to the E.R if you need a supervised detox.

If you don't seek medical help, I would suggest when you feel up to it spending lots of time on SR and other alcoholism sites/forums. Even if you don't feel like posting or talking. Just read other peoples posts if it helps you. I did that a lot my first week. It helped me to keep reminding myself WHY I was doing this. Make a list of all the reasons you want to quit, and read it often.

Good luck and Take Care
