I!!!

That made me laugh cause it is SO true! Even before I stopped drinking I had gotten fed up with my regular drinking buddy cause I was so sick of hearing the same stories over and over and over!! I remember so many times hearing my daughter say "you already told me that mom" with a really annoyed look on her face or the in the sound of her voice. I was an obnoxious drunk and I "loved..." everyone when I was drunk except for when I didn't...then I hated everyone.

I've also noticed I look a LOT better, I put down my tired look as aging, I knew the redness on my nose was drinking but the tired eyes I just said "well I'm over 50" but in the last 2 years I've become youthful looking again, no red nose, bright eyes, and I think my happiness shows through.

Some people can keep a good figure, good skin, good demeanor,
After years and years of drinking. This, however, is not the norm.
Alcohol is not a nutrient, it is a toxic substance.

Nicotine, similar phenomenon. When was the last time you saw
A 60 year old smoker that didn't look like they were 80+ years old?

Slightly overlooked and underseen by newcomers in recovery, is
The vibrance and vitality of a happy sober person. In fact,
I think I was convinceed there wasn't such a thing. Ha.
What an illusion!!!!

Great thread.

I can go on for a while, but I will stop here. GREAT POST!!!!
The repeating of the stories bugged me even when I was drinking. Now, it pushes me into hell!!!!!! I'm thinking this Christmas is going to be a rough one.

I can agree and relate to just about everything mentioned in this thread!

Something I've noticed is in an increase in my motivation. I'm more motivated to do EVERYTHING! I've become very future-driven. I am constantly looking for ways to better myself. Whether it's working out more, eating better, going to grad school (i've been researching schools), moving forward in my relationship, saving money, doing/experiencing new things...

Essentially, I'm constantly looking for ways to become an overall better person. I've spent so much time self destructing and ruining my life...I'm ready to do the complete opposite, and do it well.

I'm finding I actually like mornings! I always thought I was a night owl....but really I just stayed up later so I could drink longer.

I can actually go to bed, get to sleep and wake up excited to start the day.
