I'm a pagan witch and believe in Faeries, plus my parents have always said I was a 'faerie child' so it seemed natural.

I'm always excited when I get in on a bulletin board early enough to use some version of my real name. I'm Stephanie and I live in North Carolina, so stephnc it is.
My YouTube name has a better story...I was determined to think of something origninal and not have it rejected as a duplicate so I looked around on the desk and saw a stapleremover, so I'm stapleremover there.
Incidentally, my bf registered for this site although I don't think he's posted yet...he's franknc.

when i found this site, i was feelin' blue about how things went with an ex bf, and i remembered a blues song i wrote which had the lyrics, "ya left me for lonely..." (rather than left for dead, a little more appropriate) anyway left4lonely was appropriate at that moment in time.

Preta is a sanskrit Buddhist term which translates roughly to "Hungry ghost"...hungry ghost was taken already.
They are depicted as having huge bellies which can never be filled and tiny mouths. It symbolizes craving that can never be fulfilled. The preta realm is one of the six realms in ancient buddhism : Humans are the only ones who can practice spirituality and realise their true nature, Devas is the heavenly realm where life is so good you dont want or need spirituality, theres hell (pretty self explanatory), demons - angry dudes, animals, hungry ghosts.
They are temporary states..once one is in hell and exhausts the karma that place him there he takes rebirth elsewhere depending on karma, etc..
They can be taken literally or as mental states that we all experience.
Hungry ghosts remind me of alcoholics and addicts so much...1000 is never enough.

Wow, you all have some interesting screen name stories! I googled "cool screen names". I know...sounds pretty dorky. Anyway, I thought mirage suited me at the moment. Kinda like people think they're seeing me, but they're really not.

I picked Penny Lane after a character in my favorite movie, Almost Famous. Penny is not her real name ... she is living a life pretending to be someone else, and hits a bottom towards the end of the movie. Felt fitting.
