Sobriety - a good financial decision

This is day 58 without alcohol. Just logged onto my bank account and discovered I have a full month's salary saved up already without even trying a saving's plan. I guess I was pretty crazy while drinking, would go out and buy not only myself loads of booze but also my alcoholic friends. Then ofcourse I would get expensive take-away food to satisfy the enebriated stomach hunger. Sobriety is growing on me.

That's fantastic! Like a lot of alcoholics my debt is... really quite bad (!!) but I know for sure that many thousands of pounds of it I've just drunk - or, like you, I've spent on others' drinking (and just how uber-dumb is that?!?!?!). I doubt I'll be seeing much turnaround too quickly, but it's great to hear that the benefits of sobriety can be fiscal and not just all that "spiritual" stuff... LOL!

I am finding this too, i always gambled heavy when i was drinking, and wasted money on stupid things. It will definitely be good for the finances!

Hi December!
Boy, do I relate to that! Being a recovering opiate/cocaine addict, 150 days clean, I'm amazed at the difference with money. Before, I'd spend every penny to get high, and leave my family in a bind. It's so nice to have that extra $. And to open my cabinets and have plenty of groceries!

Congratulations on 58 days!
I know exactly what you mean about having more money when You quit drinking.
Now, if only I could give up the cigarettes.
XOXO

Please! Please! Let's have none of trucker's terrible racism - allow me to assure you that lending to Yorkshire folk is perfectly safe. Tell you what, don't lend anything to either of them. Instead, lend me £15, I'll lend a fiver to allport and a fiver to trucker, and we'll see what you get back. Did I mention I'm from Yorkshire?
