How to Use the Chat Room
I need help.
When I am really desperate I go to the Chat Room
My first week I went often.
But I don't know how to get help there.
They are usually talking about something
and when I need help, I say it, but then there is no answer
and I am told "we are listening"
Maybe I just don't know how to use it, but if I wanted to hear
myself talk, I could do that on my own.

Alot of people go into chat to lend help. Look for it and alot of times alot of the members go to socialise.
Everytime I have ever been in chat and someone came in with a problem or just wanting to talk. Most everyone was more than willing to help and listen and talk.
Sometimes maybe some of them dont know what to say or are struggling themselves.
But there is usually at least one in there that will stop talking about whatever they are talking about and give full attention to someone asking for help.
But I havent been in chat in a long time.
Dont give up on it.
I am sure it was just a miscommunication.

I've been in chat when people ask for help.. you gotta say what you're looking for.. we do listen, and you need to ask for what you need. Usually we are just chatting about whatever, and if somoene needs something, and says that "we are listening" is just an invite to share what help you need. There aren't counselors or anything in chat, it's just us addicts, drunks, and a few alanon folks chattin it up!
